Group Meeting - Medical Detection Dogs (tbc)
- 18 March 2020
The charity Medical Detection Dogs will be coming to give a presentation and no doubt give us the opportunity to ask questions.
They train dogs to detect the odour of human disease. Their work is separated into two distinct pathways:
Medical Alert Assistance Dogs – providing a life-saving companion to help those with life-threatening diseases. They currently train dogs to assist people living with Type 1 Diabetes, Addison’s Disease, severe nut allergies, PoTS, and other conditions.
Bio-Detection Dogs – their bio dogs are trained to find the odour of diseases, such as cancer, Parkinson’s, and malaria in samples such as urine, breath and swabs.
They will try their best to bring a client with their diabetes dog along.
